The wind was calm and the swell was small. The rock fishing was great up the coast near Davenport. The halibut are on the bite in 60-70 feet of water. The majority of anglers were fishing for halibut up the coat and down near Pajaro. There were a few blue fin hooked up near the gumdrop today. There were some big blue fin caught near the Half Moon Bay weather buoy. There were boats out looking 20-50 miles but they did not have any luck. The blue fin reports were not hot out of Santa Cruz the last few days. The wind stayed down and the swell is small. The halibut were biting near 4 Mile and Davenport. There were easy limits of rock fish caught near Davenport. There is some more bait pushing up the coast and the halibut and rock fish are starting to bite. The halibut are still on the bite near Pajaro and Capitola in 70 feet of water. The weather was nice all morning with a slight afternoon breeze. I did not hear if anyone went looking for tuna today. The area from 4 Mile to Davenport is producing some big rock fish, lingcod, and halibut. The west side of Santa Cruz is loaded with bait fish and the fish are on the bite. Capitola to Pajaro is still producing some nice halibut in 50-75 feet of water. The inshore action continues to be great for halibut and rock fish. The wind looks like it is going to be calm next week for anglers to go looking for tuna. The area near Davenport had some wind in the mid morning but the fish were still biting. The area from Capitola to Pajaro is still good for halibut in 60-80 feet of water. The anglers are still catching nice rock fish, lingcod, and halibut on the west side of Santa Cruz. The wind was not bad until noon and the swell was 3 foot. I did not hear any salmon or tuna reports today. The anglers near Pajaro and the Cement Ship found some nice halibut in 70 feet of water. The Davenport area is still producing big rock fish and halibut when the wind is not blowing. The fishing was good for rock fish and lingcod up the coast near Wilder Beach and South Rock. The wind is expected to be better for the next few days. The anglers near Pajaro found some squid but the short halibut were feeding all over that area. The anglers in Capitola caught some nice halibut near the Mile Buoy. The wind made things hard past Davenport but anglers did get some nice rock fish and lingcod near there. The rock fishing was the best bet up the coast near Wilder Beach and 4 Mile Beach. The squid and bait fish are moving in with the full moon on the way! The pajaro area is still producing some halibut as well. The anglers today did catch a mix of halibut and rock fish up the coast. Labor Day came and went and unfortunately due to a untimely leg injury I was stuck at home. The winds were calm but there was some south swell. The full moon is on the way and the sea bass should go on the bite any day now. The anglers fishing the beaches from Capitola to Pajaro are catching some nice halibut in 70-90 feet of water. The halibut were on the bite from 3 Mile to 4 Mile in 60-90 feet of water. There were some big vermillion, lingcod, and cabezon caught on red and white swim baits. The rock fishing was wide open up the coast in 60-80 feet of water near Davenport and Ano Nuevo. AS OF NOW WE WILL BE OPEN THURSDAY AND SATURDAY FOR SURE! Need a license?
